What are some of the benefits?
Yoga helps to eliminate lower back pain, reduces stress and anxiety, lowers blood pressure, clears the mind, reduces the symptoms of many diseases.

What is Hatha Yoga?

Who is Bikram?
Yogiraj Bikram Choudhury is widely recognized as one of the world's leading Hatha Yoga authorities. He was born in 1946 in Calcutta India and began studying Yoga at the age of 4. By the time he was 13, he had become the country's youngest ever national yoga champion — a title he held for the next 3 years. When Bikram was 15, his guru, Bishnu Ghosh, suggested that he turn his athletic attentions to long distance running and weight lifting. Bikram went on to set multiple world records and competed in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. At 17, Bikram was severely injured in a weight lifting accident. Rather than accept the prognosis of a permanent disability, he returned to his Yoga practice for the purpose of rehabilitation. With the guidance Bishnu Ghosh, Bikram developed his Beginning Yoga Series. He refined and perfected this series in the years to follow with the help of western doctors and a team of scientists at the University of Tokyo. In a 3 year research effort, Bikram demonstrated the body's extraordinary ability to heal and strengthen itself with the support of a regular Yoga practice.

Why Bikram Hatha Yoga?
The Bikram Yoga Series is a challenging, workout that improves physical strength, flexibility, and balance while enhancing mental clarity and focus. The practice is a sequence of 26 postures, including two breathing exercises performed in a heated environment. The heat accelerates the rate of change within the body and improves circulation, which helps to eliminate toxins and significantly reduces the risk of injury during deep stretching. No special equipment props or clothing is required. Bikram scientifically formulated and demonstrated yoga’s ability to regenerate tissue and cure chronic ailments. An exact technique and a series of fixed poses, the class will bring health and peace to anyone.
